Please read these Terms carefully. By downloading, installing, or using the ShieldStep application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use ShieldStep.
ShieldStep ("the App", "our Service") is a digital wellness and financial protection utility developed and operated by ShieldStep Limited, a company registered in the Republic of Kenya (Company No: PVT-A71MBLRO, KRA PIN: P052552576N).
The App is designed to assist users who wish to voluntarily restrict their own access to mobile money gambling platforms by intercepting M-Pesa STK push requests directed at registered betting operators. ShieldStep is a voluntary self-restriction tool and is not a substitute for professional mental health or addiction counselling.
By using ShieldStep, you confirm that:
Access to ShieldStep's active shield features requires a paid subscription. The following subscription tiers are currently available:
All payments are processed via M-Pesa. Subscriptions are not automatically renewed — each renewal period requires a manual, conscious payment decision from the user. ShieldStep Limited does not store your M-Pesa PIN or any payment credentials.
Refund Policy: Given the nature of digital protection services, ShieldStep subscription fees are generally non-refundable once a protection period has been activated. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact admin@shieldstep.co.ke within 7 days of the transaction.
ShieldStep requests Android Device Administrator permission to function correctly. By granting this permission, you understand and agree that:
Important: ShieldStep's protective friction is by design. If you are attempting to uninstall ShieldStep to circumvent your own self-restriction, we encourage you to seek support. Contact the National Council for Problem Gambling Kenya or reach out to admin@shieldstep.co.ke for referrals.
ShieldStep is licensed for personal, non-commercial use only. You agree not to:
ShieldStep is a voluntary self-help tool. We make no guarantee that use of the App will prevent all gambling-related financial loss, cure gambling addiction, or result in any specific financial outcome.
To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, ShieldStep Limited shall not be liable for:
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of ShieldStep shall not exceed the total subscription fees you have paid to us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
ShieldStep, ShieldStep Mobile, and the ShieldStep shield logo are registered trademarks of ShieldStep Limited. All software, design, content, and technology in the ShieldStep application are the exclusive intellectual property of ShieldStep Limited and are protected under Kenyan and applicable international intellectual property law.
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nairobi, Kenya.
Before initiating any legal proceedings, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute by contacting ShieldStep Limited at admin@shieldstep.co.ke and giving us 30 days to address the issue in good faith.
ShieldStep Limited reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the App after any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
